(Finland) Amazing memories in Korpikartano 4 – Reindeer herding and red aurora

[14/12/19~23 (D+1210) Korpikartano Hotel]

Anne gave me the chance to visit reindeer farm. The farm was just near the hotel. There were another three guests with me for touring.

Although it was 10 am, it was quite dark. After fifteen minutes with snow mobile, we stopped at the middle of the forest. When the owner of farm shouted “Huuuuuuhooooooooooo~~~~”

Reindeer came slowly

I saw only them few times during cycling. So, I was so excited to see many of them in one time.

It was my favorite picture that it looked so cute.

When he scattered the feed, they came and ate.

He explained so many things to us about reindeer, but I was too excited for following reindeer and taking picture to hear.

He started to make fire.

So cute~

I felt so good that it was the place where I could feel at one with nature. I did thank to Anne so much to take me very expensive tour for free. She was an awesome owner I’ve ever met. She gave me free room which cost over 100$, fed me for free, and took me expensive tours.

It was just amazing experience to be together with reindeer.

I loved camp fire as well.

I saw this kind of white thing in African safari. It is salty one. I mean I’ve never tried, but I’ve heard from some farmer. (Frankly speaking I wanted to try.)

At the beginning they were a bit afraid of us. But when the time went, they didn’t mind we closing to them.

It looked a bit similar to a cow.

Some of them were going back to the forest. It looked like the film of Narnia.

I got another unforgettable memory, visiting reindeer farm.

I took the picture at the inside of farmer’s house. His house was surrounded by the forest. He put some food on the tree for birds and squirrels, so he could watch them eating food without any bothering at the house.

When I came back to the hotel, daylight was already finishing at 1:30 pm.

I hurried to go to the forest with skiing. I loved this quiet wilderness place.

It was cloudy in the night, but still I could see green light behind cloud. Thanks to cloud, I could sleep well tonight. Usually I could not sleep well because I did love hunting Aurora, which I’ve never known when it came out. It was too beautiful place to sleep.

At the next day 8 pm, I succeeded to hunt northern lights.

It was super interesting day that I caught the red light of aurora.

Actually when I saw auroa with naked eye, I could see only little of red. But when I took the picture, it was for sure that I could see so clear red.

Aurora on the forest

After one hour, aurora started to dance.

The most amazing dance on the earth..

The strong aurora activity continued over twenty minutes.

When I came back to the hotel, there was still a little bit of aurora.

Around 11 pm, I could see red aurora again.

I started to run to the forest.

It was the longest star trail I’ve ever taken in the forest, but it was too horizontal. I thought this place was not good for star trail. If it was a circle trail, it must be so beautiful ever.

I went out on my day off. Usually when I had day off before, I did love to stay at home and enjoyed relaxing day. But this place was too beautiful to stay at the inside. So, I kept going out on my day off.

I had day light only between 10 am to 2 pm, so I had to hurry. This time I decided to walk on the main road. First of all reindeer welcomed me.

I followed them to the forest. Let me see… did I meet you just few days ago?

The snow was more than knee-deep.

I loved to hear nature that the babbling of a brook was so lovely.

I found the long river. Actually when I went to reindeer farm, I saw this place from the car’s window. At that time I saw the water was flowing and it was so beautiful. I wanted to ask Timo, Anne’s husband, to drop me on the way back, but I forgot and missed.
Now it was frozen. One thing I’ve learnt from the trip. “There is no next time for taking the picture. You never know what will happen. The camera’s battery could be gone or the place could be changed. Whatever if you found the something you want to take the picture of, then take picture now.”
By the way, learning is not only important; the most important is to act. Hahaha. I didn’t act, so I missed the river flowing on the snow forest.

It looked so smooth.

Such as marshmallow; I loved this view so much on the forest. I guessed the rocks made this kind of scenery.

Well..
Where was I standing? On the river?
I dug the snow…
Was it frozen enough?
I must be so smart on extremely wilderness.
Lake is usually safe, but river is not.

After taking the picture, I went back to the road. White frost was around my face.

Where was it? I saw some small side road. But it looked like to somebody’s house.

On the high way to the hotel, there was some strange thing. I thought it was because of reindeer herding. The day light was almost gone that I hurried.

It was already dark when I came back. My face became witch.

By the way the weather was cold that it was -21c (-5 f)

On 23rd of Dec the hotel was full. It was very busy before Christmas Eve.

The guest enjoyed hunting aurora with snowshoeing.

Around 10 pm aurora showed beautiful face.

And I saw fantastic gorgeous color.

Even I could see enough red light with the naked eye.

I’ve never seen red aurora even when I was in Canada.

I felt so lucky ever.

Amazing color ever!

I will never forget tonight.
