(Spain) Why do I cycle in the night too often?

[14/01/12~22 (D+875) Spain/(to Castelldefels)] Why do I cycle in the night too often? 

I feel more comfortable than first week. But one problem is I cycle in the night almost every day. What’s going on? 

There are many cathedrals.

When I looked at the map, there was the park. So, I decide to take the long way. But now I am in the park. Yeah? Is it the park??

It is next to ocean.

I expect something very green thing. But here is too gray.

And it starts raining.

In a weak moment.

This park is famous for the birds. But the view is really nothing.

I try to avoid busy road. But the road is too bumpy.

Too cloudy

There are many beautiful buildings.

It is for tourists who can enjoy anything. The local people are angry with it, because it is corruption thing.

My hosts give me some tip that I must not cycle with my bicycle in Valencia, because it would be stolen too easily. They lent me a small bicycle, and I carry three heavy locks for a seat, wheels, and frame. Welcome to Europe 🙂

In Africa, many of people are poor. Some of them say “Give me money” in front of me. It seems some of European are much richer than them. So they usually don’t say “Give me money”, but they just steal without saying or they are too say to say “give me money”, that’s why they decide to steal?

I am wondering why there are too many bicycle thief in Europe than in Africa.

Most of buildings are too old, but very clean.

Another interesting thing is there is Tabacco shop. It seems many people in Spain smoke a lot.

Another interesting stuff. If he locks with it at the back, bicycle can’t be moved to the front. But the thing is it could be lifted! hahahaha..

We go to the bar to have some beer.

There are my lovely host couple at the right and the left are their friends. We order some tapas and share together. In Americas they order for themselves, but here people order and share together like Korea.  My host’s girl friend is from Italy. When her parents came and ordered food, they were shocked, because of the culture of sharing food. To me, this culture is so familiar.

The next day I cycle at the park. There is a big park, but the road is bumpy for a bicycle. I think Spain is not a good country for cycling compared to other European country. (How do I know? I just hear many European country has a good and long bicycle road such as Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany.. )

It seems Spain’s politic is corrupted like many other country. In their history, there was a dictator for 30 years. In my opinion, if there was a dictator for a long time, that country has remained very corrupted for a long time. It is really hard to be cleaned. My country is too corrupted as well. We had a few dictators. Even our president now is dictator’s daughter. Being brainwashed for a long time by a dictator and the government is really scary thing. It is not easily removed.

Shame..shame..shame… and so sad..

All over the world, the economy is going worse. But why Southern Europe is going worse than Northern Europe? I guess because Southern Politics is much corrupted. That’s why,.. I guess.

In Spain, solar panel is prohibited, because the electronic company didn’t like losing money, so they begged to the politicians. Politicians made some excuses and finally prohibited alternative energy, solar panel. Welcome to the human’s earth 🙂

In the park, there are full of people who are running. Wow. What a healthy people ever.

The night is quiet…

At the night I couldn’t sleep with too sickness. I don’t know why I was too sick with the cold. The next day morning I try to cycle. I buy some €1 food just before leaving city and have it in front of the sea.

These days I am getting flat tire too often that I can’t stand it anymore. So I change one of them to my extra-tire. I arrive to host house at the night again. I wish the day time is longer than 6 pm.

The next day we go to the mount WITH A CAR. THANKS that not with a bike 😉

Usually in the summer here is full of people. But now it is empty, because it is cold.

Since yesterday, I cough too much that it is hard to have the conversation, and I feel sorry to them.

In Korea we have this kind of playing. Almost same. Where is it from?

He gives some information that I can cycle at very peaceful place.

Congratulation for 23,000 km

The road is so beautiful that I want to recommend to many people. But the problem is 10 km (6 mi) is all! hahahaha.

The tunnel is short but it is very bright. This road is just only for cycling, running and walking. Long time ago it was the road for the train.

Next city is more beautiful than Valencia.

When I arrive in a small village, I couldn’t find the place for sleeping. I just keep wandering and walking around the town until 7 pm night. Three local people walking at the small road ask me where I am going. I try not to miss this chance that I start talking with them. Finally they understand my situation that they offer the village house which exists for preparing the party. They say today is the holiday that they would like to show me their festival.

They burn trees and things at the center of the town every year for leaving bad luck of last year and hoping good luck of this year. It is called  San Antonio.

The fire is growing and growing.

When it goes up, I feel violent.

Because it looks there is a real person. I guess long time ago there was the human, I am sure.

This is the place they offer me kindly.

There is another festival, which is called Toros.

I am so excited to see the festival which I saw only TV.

But here is quite quiet. Not much activity. Anyway interesting

They hand me tons of food. Of course, I am the person who is considering the earth so that I don’t leave any food for saving our planet as not throwing any food garbage. hahhahahahaha.

The next day when I close to the sea, I can see the flower vegetable which I tasted with Palleas.

I wait my next host who would like to cycle with me at the afternoon to his house.

He loves cycling and camping.

When we get out of ocean, the wind comes from the head strongly that my knees have pain.

It looks like the wave of green, because of strong wind.

I love this picture that it looks like so quiet. At the night I could not talk properly because I cough too hardly.  I miss health now. I want to talk without coughing.

I was supposed to stay one night, but there was strong headwind. They insist I should not cycle. I thank them asking me stay one more night that the wind blows too strongly. His girl friend is the teacher of meditation and yoga. I try the meditation with her and I find it is something good for mind.  Good trying. I need to calm down… haha..

The wind is stopped. While trying avoiding the main highway, I face so beautiful beach. I feel so lucky, and I enjoy having lunch and taking picture.

But happiness didn’t stay longer. I get lost again, and I feel too stressful about Spanish road.

When I find the road, I try to cycle my best. Just short break-time for lunch with €1 things. But again I cycle until night 7 pm. Oh.. please can’t I stop cycling in the night?

Many people live in the flat in Spain like Korean.

The next day I did not want to enter a big city. But there is no way to avoid. And yes,… I keep getting lost to get out of this big city later. In this area, this, people’s tower(?),  is very popular. But I’ve never seen yet.

The one thing I enjoy in Spain is there is no traffic sign, but many roundabouts at many place. But I guess it could be very dangerous if somebody don’t do attention carefully.

When I closed to beach, it is totally empty. I guess if it was summer, it could be full.

It rains, I just sit on the bench lonely.

Why I feel like Spain is a ghost country is because of this one. People blind their window totally even when they live in front of ocean.

At night some worse thing happens at me. I kept getting lost that I wasted much time at the day time. It makes me cycle in the night. But the road is horribly dangerous. No lights, No any shoulder, too hilly, next to hundred meters cliff, worn brake, raining, too many traffics.. It could not be worse.

Thanks that all of car never honk horn, but they just wait until other car is gone at the opposite side.

While I try to send a message to my new host at the next city, I take the picture of the road with iPhone. But the message didn’t go to the city because of weak signal.

What a scary road. If a car hits me, I will fall to the high cliff in the night. The only thing I can do here is to try to calm down, not to be upset with situation, and keep cycling.

After one hour, I almost reach nirvana.. whatever …life will go on… let’s go on..

Almost at the end of scary stiff road, the police stops at me. It makes me so scary about penalty. I didn’t use any lights……….I heard it is illegal if people don’t use lights while cycling in the night. They say “No lights, No night jacket…but listening to music with an earphone. What are you doing?” Yes, I listen to Music to calm down, but the volume is not too high that I can hear a car is coming. I say that “I am just on my way, but the night comes. My friend lives just after 2 km, please let me go and take the rest.”

Thanks that they just warn me “Don’t do it again” and let me go.

After scary road, I enter the bright city. Yeah!! When I close to my host house, just 1 km away, I send them message “Sorry for late, I am almost there.”

And then I arrive after 40 minutes later…….. because………..they live on the top of mount that I work hard to push my bike….

When I see their smiling in front of their house, finally I feel relax and peace.

Oh..please.. no more night cycling…
